Prime Minister Rama, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, was asked about the failure of the waste management strategy, specifically the incinerators, which resulted in a corrupt affair, for which several officials have been arrested, while there is an emergency in Sharra and today waste is also being dumped into rivers. 

Ylli Rakipi:  Mr. Rama, your strategy for waste management was incinerators. Today, your idea has produced only a few arrested officials, but no functional incinerator. Over 100 million euros have been paid and there is no incinerator in Tirana. 

Edi Rama : It is neither 400 nor 150 in reality. What was paid? Service. As for the strategy, we are where we were before from the point of view of collection. What I was saying is, the contracts with these structures have a price that is ridiculous in relation to the real price that is paid in every country in Europe. The problem there, what happened between the parties outside the legal framework. The prosecution is investigating this. 

Ylli Rakipi : There is a waste emergency in Sharra. How is this resolved?

Edi Rama: The situation is made more difficult by the fact that Sharra is under sequestration. Sharra is administered…

Ylli Rakipi: The door was closed there, the waste was thrown into the rivers...

Edi Rama: No, no. It is administered by the Seized Assets Agency. We cannot do anything more than that. We administer what is there. It must be carried out with investments. It must be taken out of their hands and the court will take it away, not us. It is administered by the state. They are not paid, the payments are made to continue the work by the state agency.

Ylli Rakipi: When will the waste problem be solved?

Edi Rama : The problem of this hotspot, which is Sharra, is very much related to the process... It is something that we both have and don't have. The totality of the waste is a completely different world from what it was until yesterday.
