Reminder!

Addressed to the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Republic of Albania.

Honorable Excellencies!

I am sending you this important reminder regarding the electoral scandal that occurred in my country in the elections of May 11, 2025.

I am aware of the diplomatic principles that accompany your activity and the limits of intervention in the internal affairs of a state, but the case is not just local.

The scandalous phenomenon of election theft and manipulation exceeds and disregards all international democratic conventions and laws, severely violating fundamental human rights and freedoms.

This is the worst thing that can be done to the people of a sovereign country after armed aggression.

The current autocratic Albanian state, already proven to be a narco-state and internationally corrupt, led by Edi Rama, in collaboration with another equally dark opposition political figure in the post-communist period, Sali Berisha, in unison manipulated and destroyed the electoral system by abusively shifting all Albanian votes to their side.

-With the power of cardboard and why not, and with partial international blessing through the diplomatic corps, they devised an undemocratic and profiteering electoral code, minimizing to the point of eliminating democratic chances for free competition.

-The mechanism of blackmail and patronage was used, the administration and state financial resources were used in the service of vote alienation.

-The immigration vote was completely manipulated by ignoring the real verdict of our compatriots resident in many democratic countries such as Greece, Italy, France, England, the USA, etc., using dubious postal services linked to the millions given by abusive tenders.

-Corrupt segments of the Albanian courts were used to brutally and blatantly violate the law to steal the legal and financial legitimacy of political parties.

These arguments, accompanied by irrefutable evidence and facts that disrupt and deform any democratic and humane electoral normality, will bring serious consequences not only for the functioning of the rule of law, but will also lead to deep social conflicts and the escalation of instability in the country.

This logical and legal conclusion, I believe, makes your diplomatic intervention with your governments not only necessary but vital for the review and repetition of the elections under strict international supervision with a guardian government.

This undeniable fact is accompanied by the alarming preliminary report of the OSCE-ODIHR observers.

An alarming fact that opposition candidates in the elections did not receive a single vote from their own family members would be enough to make the electoral situation that our country experienced so ridiculous and tragic.

We will, with all our might, with indisputable documents, address our current law enforcement bodies, but I believe that your suggestion to the new justice bodies in which your states and governments have invested over the years is just and logical.

Excellency Ambassador!

Rama and Berisha seized power to destroy the new justice system that you have invested in.

Remaining hopeful and confident in the seriousness with which you will consider this serious case of undermining democracy, I convey my greetings to you.

With respect, Azgan Haklaj, former member of the Albanian Parliament, candidate of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition in the May 11 elections.
