The mistake that is harming your plants without you knowing it/ Don't plant the soil without taking this step!

Many people make the same mistake when planting plants in pots: they pour soil directly into the pot and water it later. But preparing the soil before planting has a huge impact on how the plant grows and develops.
Putting a plant in a new pot is always a new beginning for it.
However, before this step, some attention should be paid to the soil.
If the substrate is too dry, the roots have a harder time adapting and obtaining the necessary moisture.
The solution is simple: the soil should be slightly moist before planting, but not waterlogged. Dry soil, especially peaty soil, often doesn't absorb water immediately and the moisture isn't distributed evenly. This can leave some parts of the roots without water.
When the soil is evenly pre-moistened, it creates a better environment for the roots. It should feel like a squeezed sponge: moist to the touch, but not dripping wet.
There are times when this is even more important, such as when the soil is very dry, when using coconut fiber, orchid bark, or when repotting indoor plants. In these situations, pre-wetting and draining make the soil more ready for use.
On the other hand, you shouldn't overwater. If the soil is already slightly damp in the bag, you don't need to water it any more. Too much moisture can prevent the roots from aerating and create conditions for mold or rot.
Another important detail is the plant itself. Before planting, the roots should be hydrated. If they are dry, they may not absorb water properly. A good way is to submerge the old pot in water until the air bubbles stop.
Finally, after the plant is placed in the pot, it should be watered well so that the soil settles around the roots and there are no empty spaces left. This helps the roots connect better to the soil and grow healthier.
