Died at the age of 36 after 20 years in a coma, the tragic story of the Arab

Deep sadness has gripped the Arab world following the passing of Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, known by international media as the "Sleeping Prince."

He passed away on Saturday at the age of 36, after a dramatic period of more than two decades in a coma.

The young Saudi prince was involved in a serious road accident in the United Kingdom in 2005, where he had gone to study at a military academy.

The accident caused severe head injuries, leaving him in an unconscious state since the age of 15.

After the accident, Al-Waleed was transferred to King Abdulaziz Medical Hospital in Riyadh, where he was treated for 21 years by specialized medical teams. He was always surrounded by his devoted parents, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud and Princess Rima, who never lost hope for a miracle.

In her previous statements, Princess Rima stated that her son's "spirit was still present," while his father, Prince Khaled, categorically refused to allow him to be disconnected from the machines that kept him alive. "The Divine Power that kept him alive may one day heal him ," he had said.

For more than two decades, the prince survived with the help of breathing machines and was fed through a tube.

Hope for a possible recovery was revived in 2019, when he responded with some slight movements, such as lifting a finger or moving his head, but unfortunately, he never came out of the coma.

On April 18 of this year, his 36th birthday, which would also be his last, was accompanied by a wave of congratulations, prayers and messages of hope from millions of followers on social media, who considered the prince a symbol of unwavering faith and patience, according to Roya News.

On the same day, his mother, Princess Rima bin Talal, published several photos of her son on the X platform, accompanied by touching words.

"My beloved Al-Walid bin Khaled, 21 years after (the accident) you are still present in our hearts and in the prayers of all those who love you. O God, heal Your servant Al-Walid. No one knows his weakness except You, O Lord of the heavens and the earth ," she wrote.
