War in Iran/ Chinese Minister: Beijing and Moscow ready to mediate to reduce tensions in the Middle East

China has called for a reduction in tensions in the Middle East.

"China is ready to continue cooperation with the Russian Federation in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to ease tensions in the Middle East," said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

His statement came after a conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. He also called for an immediate ceasefire in the region.

According to Reuters, Wang stressed that the fundamental way to solve the problem of security of movement in the Strait of Hormuz is to achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible.

He added that China is consistently supporting a political solution to the crisis hotspots through dialogue and negotiations.
