Authorities have launched a murder investigation after the 58-year-old was found attacked on a boat near her home on the Holzhafen bank of the Elbe River in the eastern district of Moorfleet.

Her son discovered the body on Tuesday morning, according to police, who believe she died between midnight and 5.30am.

" According to current information, relatives found the 58-year-old woman dead in her boat and called the fire brigade, who were only able to confirm the woman's death," a police spokesman told local media. The spokesman said investigators were looking for possible suspects and whether the killer may have been known to Fröhlich.
