Scandal with fake diplomas/ The WISDOM college scheme is revealed, who is the official who took the bribe

Other details are revealed regarding the scheme of selling fake diplomas from Wisdom College. The Italian authorities have arrested 9 Italian citizens, including the owner of the Wisdom university college in Albania, as part of the investigation into what is considered the diploma sale scandal.

But in the discovered scheme, it turns out that an official is also involved, who is suspected of having accredited the college in return for a bribe.
The Italian authorities are investigating about 41 people who are suspected of being involved in the scheme, while the investigations also include the activity of two companies with headquarters in Foxia and Rome.

Investigations are being conducted regarding allegations of serious fraud, forgery of documents, corruption and money laundering.

Among those arrested is the owner of Wisdom University College based in Tirana and Savino Cianci, as well as his wife Lucia Catalano. Also arrested were Maria Saveria Modaffari, Giada Fortunata Modaffari, Maria Ornella Attisano, Leonardo Catalano, Marco Lombardi, Antonio Caporale and Maria M'Daraa.

The suspicions are that the scheme also includes an official, related to the accreditation process of the College, who favored the scheme in exchange for a bribe.

According to Italian media, the Cianci-Catalano couple bribed an Albanian government official with a Louis Vuitton bag worth 1,200 euros.

The Italian media even specify that this gift was given to the president of the Accreditation Council of Ascal (Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education), a government body, for the activation and favorable completion of the accreditation procedure of Wisdom University.

From the investigations of the Italian authorities, it is suspected that 8 thousand euros were paid for each certificate or diploma. The qualifications were varied: support teaching, degree in criminology, hospitality degree and other specializations.
