New details have emerged from the serious incident recorded in the village of Bulgarec, near the city of Korça, where a 78-year-old man was found dead in his apartment.
The victim, Gëzim Vija, is suspected of being murdered, as his body showed obvious signs of violence. According to sources from the investigation team, the elderly man was hit in the head, while two serious wounds are suspected to have caused his death.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the perpetrator may have known the victim, which is suspected to have enabled him to enter the apartment without using force. Another element being investigated is the fact that, after the crime, the exterior door of the apartment was found locked, raising suspicions that the perpetrator fled in an attempt to cover his tracks.
As part of the investigation, Korça police have accompanied and questioned several people who had close ties to the 78-year-old, with the aim of fully clarifying the circumstances of the incident and identifying the perpetrator.
Meanwhile, it is expected that forensic expertise and the evidence collected will shed more light on the incident.
