The financial costs of the two elections held last year in Kosovo have been revealed, the bill went over 22 million euros

In 2025, Kosovo organized two rounds of parliamentary elections and two rounds of local elections.
In addition to regular elections, early elections were also held due to the lack of political will to elect a government. These electoral processes cost Kosovo over 22 million euros.
" According to reports so far, the amount of funds spent on organizing these electoral processes is worth around 22 million euros, of course we will soon have the final reports on all these electoral processes ," said Valmir Elezi, spokesperson for the Central Election Commission.
But the lack of political will to reach an agreement could lead Kosovo to another snap parliamentary election this June. According to the Constitutional Court's ruling, if Kosovo's parliament fails to elect a new president by April 28, citizens will once again head to the polls. This process could cost the country up to another 7 million euros, based on the cost of the December 28 snap elections, although this will be determined by the demands of the Central Election Commission units.
" In the last early parliamentary elections held on December 28, the amount planned by the CEC was 11.5 million euros, while according to reports so far, about 7 million euros of this total amount have been spent ," he adds.
Whether there will be early parliamentary elections this year will be up to the political parties and their will to elect the president of Kosovo.
In the latest decision of the Constitutional Court, the country will go to elections within 45 days if the head of state is not elected within the specified deadline.
