The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, has revealed that a platform has been created in order to register Albanian immigrants who wish to vote in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025.
Ilirjan Celibashi : We have built a platform that fully ensures the identity of the one who applies, compared to its peers, I think it contains the highest security standard.
We have considered all aspects related to the use of personal data. The platform is such that there are two stages, the first stage of creating the account profiles of each applicant and in a second moment when he appreciates he can apply to be registered in the list of voters from abroad.
We have built it in this way to create the possibility for any voter from abroad, regardless of the fact that they have a valid identification document or not, to have access to the platform, create their profile, register to be a voter from abroad for a period 60 days even though there is no valid identification document. Giving the time so that even during this 60-day period the question of the validity of the document is addressed either by the applicant or in another way.
About how to create an account. From the elderly people. The platform will also have a help system through a chatbot, through a direct communication with the CEC, with the service of ËhatsApp or e-mail.
I am listing, I am not saying that our grandparents are familiar with information technology, first we will have to admit that what has been presented so far is in full compliance with all the provisions of both the electoral code and the act regulator.
We agree that the creation of the account will be like this, it may imply difficulties for a category of voters and they will certainly have to be assisted, but there is no other way to harmonize the security of the identity of the applicant with the ease of applying.
I think we have combined these requirements in the best way.
