Croatian President Cancels Brdo-Brijone Summit, Blames Aleksandar Vučić

Croatian President Zoran Milanovic has canceled the summit of Western Balkan heads of state with Croatia and Slovenia, which was scheduled to be held in May on the Croatian island of Brijuni.

President Milanovic cited the lack of conditions to invite Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to the meeting as a justification for canceling the summit, due to his recent statements.

"The political statements and actions of the last days and weeks of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, are in complete contradiction with the goals of the Brdo-Brijoni Process, they damage interstate relations and endanger peace and stability in the region of Southeast Europe. President Milanović is of the opinion that in such circumstances the conditions do not exist and the arrival of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to Croatia is not possible," "Jutarnji list" quotes the announcement from the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia.

The last Brdo-Brijon summit was held in the fall of last year in Tirana, attended by all the presidents of the countries in the region, including Serbian President Vučić.
