Netherlands shocked, Koeman loses another star before the World Cup

There is no peace in the Netherlands, with coach Koeman looking to lose other important elements before the start of the World Cup. The latest to be injured is Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber, with the latter suffering a muscle strain, forcing him to leave New York, where the Dutch national team is based. In these conditions, coach Koeman has invited Lutsharel Geertruida, a player owned by Leipzig, but who was on loan at Sunderland this season.

Timber is just the latest player to miss the "FIFA2026" World Cup, as players such as Xavi Simons, Matthijs de Ligt and Stefan de Vrij have previously been unavailable for the national team due to injury.

The Netherlands are in Group F alongside Sweden, Tunisia and Japan. The Netherlands will make their World Cup debut on June 14 against Japan.
