Manuel Akanji, Inter's Swiss defender, has clear ideas for the future. In a press conference during the preparations in Switzerland, he spoke about the current season and personal plans. "We are at the top of the table and we want to stay there. The team is working well and the atmosphere is fantastic," said Akanji, expressing his satisfaction with the environment at Inter.
He arrived on loan with an option to buy, which could become mandatory if the team wins the Scudetto and plays in a minimum number of matches. The defender revealed that his first spell at the club was challenging for his family, but that he was warmly welcomed by the staff and teammates.
“Things are going in the right direction,” he added. Akanji also spoke about the fans: “San Siro is magical, but I can’t forget Dortmund’s yellow wall. Both are fantastic stadiums.”
On his personal life, he highlighted his good relationship with compatriot Jan Zomer, with whom he shares moments off the pitch and frequent conversations about Switzerland.
