Transferred 3 million euros from Albania to Austria/ SPAK with new investigation into Arben Ahmetaj
Details have emerged from the court hearing for former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, who is accused of abuse of office, while SPAK has opened a new investigation into the former fugitive official. Prosecutor Elvin Gokaj has requested that 14 people be questioned as witnesses, including former Minister Shkelqim Cani. The SPAK prosecutor stressed that he has been contacted that a large sum of money, specifically 3 million euros, has been transferred from Albania to an EU country, towards Austria.
"We have come into contact with a large amount of money that has been transferred from Albania to an EU country that is being verified," the prosecutor said.
Meanwhile, Ahmetaj's lawyer said; "The prosecutor is saying that if we find anything out of this, we will press charges. If there are other investigations into this matter, the prosecutor was in no hurry to close the investigations. It cannot be a regular process with surprise acts. If there is other evidence, the prosecutor should present it."
