Prime Minister Edi Rama boasted to foreign journalists that Flamingos returned to the Narta Valley only after he came to power in 2013. Alfapress.al has consulted official data and facts and it turns out that Edi Rama has dared to deceive journalists of major international media live, he has deceived them. According to data from the Albanian Ornithological Society, in January 2013, when the current government had only been in power for a few months, 20,396 waterfowl were counted in the Vjosa–Narta complex, among them 1,322 Flamingos.
In fact, during the period 2014–2026, the total number of birds in Vjosa–Narta no longer reached the level of 2013. While the flamingos were not “brought” by anyone. They were present in the area long before 2013 and have been increasing since 2011.
The truth is simple: Neither this government nor previous governments brought the Flamingos to Narta. The Flamingos come because Narta is their natural habitat.
The government's job is not to take credit for the birds' arrival, but to protect their lagoons, habitats and biodiversity.
