Rama: From January 1st, the minimum wage will be 500 euros! Salary increase for all employees in the state, without any taxes!

Prime Minister Edi Rama said today from Unit No. 2 at the meeting with residents to explain the 2026 budget for Tirana and Albania, that from January 1, the minimum wage will change and will be 500 euros, while by the end of the mandate it will go up to 700 euros.
He also confirmed that administration salaries will also increase in all sectors, especially those in education, health, police, army and beyond. And all these increases, according to him, will not be subject to taxation on profits, as is done in other countries in the region or Europe.
On the issue of pensions, Rama said:
"This pension increase has nothing to do with indexation. Indexation will continue to be done annually. And as the monthly support for pensioners has begun to increase, we will also have indexation. And indexation is expected to reach 50 million euros in a few years."
As for the minimum wage, he explained that it affects both the public and private sectors, and not just the latter, while adding that this increase will also include escalation or categorization according to profile and sectors.
"Even the minimum wage from January 1 will go to 500 euros. It will not be a simple increase, but as we have said, with the promise we made before we took 83 mandates, we say that at the end of the mandate the minimum wage will go to 700 euros. This is not for the administration, but for the public and private sector. This is determined by law, that in Albania there will be no salary below 500 euros", said the head of government.
Rama also explained the issue of increasing salaries in the state sector:
"Salaries will also increase for all employees, because it requires escalations. The salaries of teachers, doctors, nurses, police, military and other employees will increase. As we have seen so far, we will also see this increase in the private sector, although the government does not increase them but the evidence, but it has happened and will happen again, we will see. All of this will be done without affecting and without increasing any taxes. We have made a commitment and we will stick to that commitment, for Albania to be the only country in the region, because in Europe it is not even a question of where taxes are, where we become a country without a tax on profit. Even towards small businesses, where businesses will only pay social and health insurance, contributions, which are necessary."
