UN Urgent Message to Iran, Lebanon and Gaza: Respect Ceasefires

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed his concern over the new escalation of tensions in the Middle East, calling for an immediate halt to all attacks and full respect for ceasefires in Iran, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
In a public statement, Guterres stressed that any action that could jeopardize ongoing diplomatic efforts should be avoided, underlining the importance of maintaining regional stability.
He also expressed concern about Israel's decision to close the border crossings with Gaza, calling for their immediate reopening to enable the rapid, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population.
Speaking about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, the UN head stressed that the rights and freedoms of navigation must be respected in accordance with international law.
Guterres called on all parties involved to fulfill their obligations under international law and take all necessary measures to protect civilians.
"There is no military solution to the conflicts in the Middle East. The only way forward is dialogue and negotiations," he declared, calling for greater commitment to diplomatic solutions that contribute to regional and international peace and security.
