Lezha is hit by heavy rains, several neighborhoods are flooded, emergencies on the ground

Heavy rainfall accompanied by electrical discharges that have affected Lezha since last midnight have created problems in several areas.

The sewage system in the city of Lezha has failed to cope with the large amount of water inflows, causing flooding in the “11 Janari” and “11.2 Hectare” residential blocks in the “Besëlidhja” neighborhood. The water level reached up to 40 centimeters, blocking the entrances to the buildings and making it difficult for pedestrians and vehicles to move.

Emergency services were deployed to help remove the water and avoid damage to the first floors of the apartments.

Water was also present at several points on the Lezhë-Shëngjin road, while a tree fell and made traffic difficult. Also, the high water channel in Zadrimë overflowed its bed and flooded several hectares of agricultural land in the Kallmet area.

Local authorities announce that emergency teams and cleaning vehicles are on the ground to normalize the situation, while appealing to citizens to avoid unnecessary movements in the affected areas.

Due to the heavy rainfall, problems are also reported in the Municipality of Kurbin. The flooding of water brought difficulties to the city of Laç, while flooding is reported in Gjorm and Zheje. Meanwhile, the bad weather has damaged the electrical network in several areas, causing a lack of power mainly in villages. OSHEE teams are on the ground and are working to repair the defects, while the municipalities have engaged vehicles and employees to remove debris and normalize traffic.

At the Qafë Molla and Ulza HPPs, flows have increased significantly, but according to the authorities, the critical level that requires the opening of the gates has not been reached, while the situation is being kept under constant monitoring by Civil Protection structures.
